Sterling Silver Skull Stud Earrings

Sterling silver hand stamped skull studs from my Carpe Diem collection which translates as 'seize the day'. Each skull is hammered and cut from sheet silver, soldered onto earring posts and carefully polished so that the recessed design remains blackened.

These skull earrings are a modern twist on 'memento mori' jewellery, a 16th -18th century trend in which symbols such as skulls, hour glasses and clocks were crafted into designs to be worn as reminders that you are mortal and your time here is finite. Rather than being perceived as morbid or macabre items they were in fact meant to bring you back to the moment and inspire you to live every day as if it's your last!
