Sterling Silver Skull Stacking Ring

From the CARPE DIEM collection, this sterling silver skull has been stamped into sheet silver and carefully cut with a jewellers saw before being soldered onto our hammered silver ring band.

The skull is then oxidised to blacken the silver and then the highlights are polished leaving all the stamped detailing dark.

A modern twist on 'memento mori' jewellery, a 16th -18th century trend in which symbols such as skulls, wings, hour glasses and clocks were crafted into designs to be worn as reminders that you are mortal and your time here is finite. Rather than being perceived as morbid or macabre items they were in fact meant to bring you back to the moment and inspire you to live every day as if it's your last!

• band is 1.5mm round wire.
• skull is approx 7mm.
